| What Is A Topsite? How Does It Work? |
| © 2008-2011 Tropical Fish Forum / TheFishGuy Last Updated : May 3, 2011 |
| In a word, topsites are one method that we use to promote the Tropical Fish Forum messageboard. The buttons that are located at the bottom of a page are voting links to the topsites which we have joined. Topsites lists are usually topical in nature. All of the topsites which we have joined are related in some way to aquariums and the tropical fish hobby. Whenever you click on any of the voting buttons that are located on the bottom of one of our pages, you will be taken to that particular topsites list, and a vote will be cast for our site; although in some cases, you will also have to click on a link or button once you arrive at the other site, in order for your vote to be counted. How do these votes help us? Each vote that we receive from our Tropical Fish Forum visitors pushes up our website further on that particular topsites list. Obviously, the higher up we are on a topsites list, the more that visitors to that topsites list will see us. Hopefully, they will be motivated to click on our banner or link, and thus come to the Tropical Fish Forum messageboard. In simple terms then, each time that you click on a button that is found in the topsites table at the bottom of one of our pages, you are potentially helping to drive more visitors to our site. The more buttons that you click, the more you are obviously helping to attract visitors to the Tropical Fish Forum website. Some topsites only drive a few visitors to our site each month, while others drive a few dozen; but collectively-speaking, it all adds up at the end of the month. That is why we have joined several dozen of them, even though they may be very low-traffic topsites lists. That is basically how topsites systems work. They are voter-driven. So when you click on the buttons that are located at the bottom of our pages, you can rest assured that nothing secret is going on behind your back which you will regret later. You are not being secretly tracked across the Internet. Only your vote is being counted. We are not making a single penny from your button clicks. That is what the Amazon ads are for, and we are very open about it. So again, by clicking the topsites buttons, you are simply helping to drive visitors to our site. Period. Thanks so much for helping to promote our site,
TheFishGuy
